THE PENNSYLVANIA FARM SHOW WRAPPED UP THIS WEEKEND, AND TODAY CREWS GOT TO WORK TO BREAK DOWN THE 1000 POUND BUTTER SCULPTURE. THE AMERICAN DAIRY ASSOCIATION NORTHEAST PARTNERED WITH THE DAUPHIN COUNTY 4-H EXCHANGE CLUB AND REINFORD FARMS TO DISMANTLE, TRANSPORT, AND ULTIMATELY RECYCLE THE INEDIBLE BUTTER. REINFORD FARMS WILL CONVERT THE BUTTER INTO RENEWABLE ENERGY TO POWER ITS DAIRY FARM. THIS YEAR’S SCULPTURE FEATURED THREE OF THE STATE’S SPORTS MASCOTS — SWOOP, STEELY MCBEAM, AND GRIT

Over 1,000 pounds of butter recycled into electricity to power dairy farm

The Pennsylvania Farm Show wrapped up Saturday, and on Sunday, crews broke down the 1,000-pound butter sculpture.The American Dairy Association North East, Dauphin County 4-H Exchange Club and Reinford Farms worked together to dismantle, transport and recycle the inedible butter into electricity. The renewable energy will power the Reinford Farms dairy.
