HARRISBURG, PA (WNEP/Meredith) — Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty has been making people smile since his debut in September 2018.

Now, two very talented artists made a Gritty butter sculpture!

The traditional unveiling of the butter sculpture ahead of the 104th Pennsylvania Farm Show took place in Harrisburg Thursday morning.

This year’s sculpture features three of the state’s mascots — Philadelphia Flyers’ Gritty, Philadelphia Eagles’ Swoop, and Pittsburgh Steelers’ Steely McBeam. It was constructed over a 14-day period by artists Jim Victor and Marie Pelton of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, using more than 1,000 pounds of butter donated by Land O’ Lakes.

“They told me it couldn’t be done. Today, #ButterGritty rises,” Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman tweeted.

The butter sculpture is on display in the Farm Show’s Main Hall. Following the Farm Show, the butter will be moved to the Reinford Farm in Juniata County to be converted into renewable energy in the farm’s methane digester.

The Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the nation, featuring nearly 12,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits.
