PA Farm Show Butter Sculpture To Be Deconstructed This Weekend

Lt. Governor John Fetterman and Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding today unveiled the 2020 Pennsylvania Farm Show butter sculpture, carved from a half-ton of butter depicting three of Pennsylvania’s beloved professional sports mascots: Philadelphia Flyers’ Gritty, Philadelphia Eagles’ Swoop, and Pittsburgh Steelers’ Steely McBeam celebrating with a spread of Pennsylvania dairy products. The sculpture, a long-time Farm Show staple, encourages Pennsylvanians to be a fan of Pennsylvania dairy and give a cheer to the more than 6,200 dairy farmers in the commonwealth. Harrisburg, PA – January 2, 2020

With the Pennsylvania Farm Show wrapping up this weekend, the half-ton butter sculpture currently on display will not go to waste.

The East Meets West tailgate party sculpture featuring Steelers mascot Steely McBeam and two Philadelphia area mascots will be dismantled and transported to a dairy farm in Juniata County.

Once there, the inedible butter will be converted into renewable energy to power the farm using a methane digester.

The 90-minute deconstruction process will begin Sunday morning with assistance from students with the Dauphin County 4-H Exchange Club.
