Hess’s legal team have subpoenaed both the criminal record of Jacenko’s husband Oliver Curtis and any criminal records of Jacenko, if they exist, in a case the court has heard rests on the “credibility” of the PR maven.
JBish a big-ticket speaker
Since her departure from the Liberal Party, Julie Bishop has been here, there and everywhere. By her own admission, the former foreign minister has spent just five nights at home in the last three months.
After quitting politics in February, Bishop has become a regular fixture on the Sydney social circuit. Last month she joined a number of high-profile personalities including Biggest Loser Australia personal trainer Michelle Bridges and heroic Qantas pilot Richard de Crespigny on a $4,997 business retreat in Fiji.
At the Nurture 360 retreat co-founded by former AFL star Paul Roos and his wife Tami, guests had the chance to mingle with Bishop and enjoy talks, yoga and poolside relaxation over five days at the Intercontinental hotel in Fiji.
It’s little surprise Bishop, 63, who is known for her fashion-forward outfits and love of shoes is an in-demand speaker around the country and abroad. At the L’Oreal-UNESCO Women in Science awards last week she had the audience in the palm of her hand with a speech that was emotive, humorous and personable.
Hollywood actress in Sydney, local paparazzi couldn’t care less
US Actress Katie Holmes landed in Sydney last week and it seems nobody here really cares. Despite a high profile in the US, thanks to growing up on-screen in ’90s teen soap Dawsons Creek and her at times bizarre marriage to Scientology poster-boy Tom Cruise, the Hollywood star doesn’t appeal to local snappers. According to a longtime Sydney paparazzo, Holmes, who is in town for Ronald McDonald House charities just isn’t of interest.
“She’s not about to go down to Bondi and get her bikini on,” the celebrity photographer told Emerald City. “She is here by herself – no Suri. At best she will go for lunch at Icebergs followed by some shopping at Paddington – boring!”
The American sweetheart is usually a target for paparazzi photographers back home in the US who want to capture unguarded moments of Holmes with her 13-year-old daughter Suri Cruise (whom she shares with ex-husband Tom). “It is great that she’s here to give her time to a worthy cause however, the process is controlling, contrived and highly orchestrated,” the photographer said.
Alli Simpson: ‘Cody and Miley are perfect for each other’
Actress, model, TV host and beauty guru Alli Simpson says her popstar brother Cody and his megastar girlfriend Miley Cyrus are perfect for each other.
Speaking to Emerald City aboard the Quantum superyacht for Reef Oil Yacht Girl summer party yesterday the Gold Coast-born and Los Angeles-raised starlet couldn’t be happier for her sibling’s high-profile romance with the Wrecking Ball singer.
“They’re so similar and they love all the same things,” the 21-year-old said. “We’re [the Simpson family] used to having our relationships scrutinised having grown up in the spotlight. If Cody is happy, then we are happy.”
After living in LA for a decade Alli relocated to Sydney a year ago after being signed with IMG talent. She says she has no regrets about the move.
“Growing up in LA I have dealt with the harsh side of being in the spotlight, people befriending me for the wrong reasons to get ahead in their own careers.”
Alli praised her down to earth folks Brad and Angie who are far from typical stage parents. “They support us and mum has helped guide me but she is no Kris Jenner!”
