Pataky made her mark on Byron Bay after Emerald City reported she had become a hot topic among local parents when her sons began kindergarten.

“She’s so beautiful, I can’t wait to do school pick up!” one school parent revealed, adding that the other Byron dads were begging their wives to do the school run in a bid to get a glimpse of the petite Spanish beauty.

From pollie to party girl
Former foreign affairs minister Julie Bishop certainly made her presence known on the Sydney party circuit.

In June, Emerald City reported the former politician had kept herself busy since her departure from Parliament by attending everything from charity balls to fashion soirees, after-parties and ladies luncheons.

It wasn’t long before Bishop signed with Claxton Speakers to manage the growing number of requests from organisations clamouring for her to speak at events and conferences. It’s understood that her fee is tens of thousands of dollars for a single speech, while she could be paid up to $50,000 per engagement.

End of a rocky road
While JBish was busy tending to the social circuit, socialite Lizzie Buttrose (niece of ABC chair Ita) was busy splitting from her seventh fiance.

The rollercoaster relationship between the former Sydney “it-girl” and her cage-fighter fiance Zoran Stopar finally ended. Over the years Stoper and Buttrose had public slinging matches on social media, and police were called to their former Vaucluse home on several occasions.

When Emerald City asked Buttrose about the suspected split in August, she responded: “I’ll be seeking my aunt’s advice.” At the time, friends close to the ex-couple said the pair were tight-lipped about their breakup. They no longer follow each other on social media and Stopar relocated back in Sydney, having moved into Buttrose’s Port Douglas property while they were together.

Weeks after the split, Buttrose again made headlines when Emerald City revealed her son Andrew, 21 was a relationship with 36-year-old Julia Maguire, a longtime friend of his mother’s. Maguire did not want to be quoted for that story, however she did request that her age be amended.

Buttose and Stopar weren’t the only prominent couple to split in 2019. Former fashion blogging duo Elle Ferguson and Tash Sefton, co-creators of They All Hate us, also cut ties after a “betrayal” that played out all over social media and the social pages.

Property meets publicity
In May, Emerald City reported Sydney property developer Nabil Gazal had also found love, bouncing back from his ill-fated romance with public relations queen Roxy Jacenko (who at one point managed Ferguson and Sefton) while her husband Oliver Curtis was in jail.

Gazal fell for would-be fashion publicist Tahlija Wall, revealing the pair had been dating for a number of months and showcasing their romance at various fashionable Sydney eateries. Members of the tight-knit and fiercely private Gazal clan were introduced to the brunette bombshell, understood to be more than a decade Gazal’s junior.
