The Audition

The Audition

COLLABORATION Bleak, angry and ironic, Exit Strategies sees artist Mish Grigor attempt a series of grand exits on loop. From pretending to leave the room to leaving the country, each attempt grows in scope as Grigor figures out how to recognise when you have overstayed your welcome. This collaboration with co-directors Lara Thoms and Eugenia Lim traverses popular entertainment and intersectional, absurdist experimental art. Saturday, 7.30pm, Sunday, 5pm, Arts House, North Melbourne Town Hall, 521 Queensberry Street, $25-$35, 9322 3720, artshouse.com.au

PLAY Challenging protocols and unpacking power dynamics, The Audition parallels the experience of auditioning to that of refugees seeking asylum by displaying the repercussions of a life lived in limbo. The play is multi-storied; one scene dives into a woman’s life, told through seven mirrors; the next opens up the delicate mechanics of turning down asylum. Saturday, 7.30, Sunday, 4pm, La Mama Courthouse, 349 Drummond Street, Carlton, $20-$30, 93476948, lamama.com.au
